Mater Dollar Dream Ticket: a $100,000 trip around the world, or $100,000 in gold, from $1
Mater's newest lottery costs just one dollar a ticket. The winner picks between a five-city round-the-world holiday for a family of four, with $20,000 of gold bullion on top, or simply takes $100,000 in gold.
A dollar for a dream
Mater is best known for its multimillion-dollar Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast prize homes. The Dollar Dream Ticket is something different: a smaller prize, a far smaller ticket, and much shorter odds. Mater can issue up to 1,000,000 tickets in this first draw, half of them bonus tickets, which sounds like a lot until you compare it with the tens of millions in a Mater prize home draw.
It's licensed in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, South Australia and the Northern Territory, and the money raised supports medical research, equipment and patient care at Mater.
The trip: 20 nights, five cities, one family
Built for two adults and two children aged 11 or under. Four nights in each city, flying round the world with Star Alliance.

- Asakusa View Hotel Annex Rokku, two connecting rooms with breakfast
- Full-day "Best of Tokyo" tour with a local guide

- Fast-track tickets on the London Eye
- Private transfer to the airport

Yellow cabs, Central Park, a slice on the sidewalk, and Broadway seats for the show the whole family picks.
- Two deluxe rooms at The Jewel hotel
- Broadway tickets to the show of your choice (subject to availability)
- Private airport transfers both ways

The last stop is the slow one: ocean-view balconies facing Diamond Head, warm water, and a sunset sail off Waikiki to finish the trip.
- Two Diamond Head ocean-view king rooms with balconies at the Waikiki Beach Marriott
- A sunset sail with drinks from Waikiki Beach
- Private airport transfers both ways
The trip is an $80,000 travel voucher, booked through Mater's travel supplier, for travel in 2027 (peak school holidays excluded; hotels can be swapped if one is full). Airfares are economy and all airport taxes are included. Passports, visas and anything over the voucher value are up to the winner.
Travel or gold? The winner chooses
Both options are worth $100,000. You pick one, not both.
Round the World Travel Prize
$80,000 travel voucher + $20,000 gold bullionThe holiday above, plus a $20,000 cushion of gold for spending money, a deposit, or simply keeping.
Best for: a family that has always talked about "one day" and wants it booked.
Gold Prize
$100,000 gold bullionAll gold, supplied through Mater's bullion supplier once ID checks are done. Keep it, or sell it (selling costs and the gold price on the day apply).
Best for: anyone who'd rather pay down the mortgage, or travel their own way.
Ticket bundles and your odds
Every ticket is $1. Bigger books add free bonus tickets, and every ticket (paid or bonus) has the same chance.
| You spend | Tickets you get | Your odds if it sells out |
|---|
Odds use the most tickets Mater can issue: 1,000,000 (500,000 paid + 500,000 bonus). If fewer sell, your odds are better.
The trade-off is the prize: $100,000 here against millions for a prize home. Compare every draw on our prize home odds page.

Mater Dollar Dream Ticket: your questions
What is the Mater Dollar Dream Ticket?
It's a new lottery from Mater Foundation in Brisbane, with tickets from $1. Draw 1 has one main prize worth $100,000: the winner chooses a five-city round-the-world trip for a family of four plus $20,000 in gold, or $100,000 in gold bullion.
When does the Dollar Dream Ticket close and when is it drawn?
Draw 1 closes at 7:55pm Queensland time on Saturday 12 December 2026 (8:55pm in Sydney), or earlier if it sells out. It's drawn at 10am Queensland time on Wednesday 16 December 2026.
What are the odds of winning the Dollar Dream Ticket?
Mater can issue up to 1,000,000 tickets. If every ticket sells, one $1 ticket is a 1 in 1,000,000 chance, $10 (15 tickets) is about 1 in 66,667, and $100 (200 tickets) is 1 in 5,000. If fewer tickets sell, the odds are better.
Where does the trip go?
Tokyo, Paris, London, New York and Honolulu, four nights in each. It includes Star Alliance round-the-world economy flights, hotels, a guided day in Tokyo, a Paris food tour, the Eurostar to London in Business Premier, London Eye tickets, a Broadway show and a Waikiki sunset sail.
Can I take the money instead of the trip?
You can take $100,000 in gold bullion instead of the trip. The prize isn't paid as cash, but gold can be kept or sold (selling costs and the gold price on the day apply).
Who can enter the Dollar Dream Ticket?
Adults aged 18 and over. Draw 1 holds permits in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Mater staff, board members and their immediate families can't enter.
Do I pay tax if I win?
Mater's terms say lottery prizes aren't taxable under prescribed lottery arrangements, and the ATO treats ordinary lottery wins the same way. If you later sell the gold, ask an accountant how that applies to you.
How will I know if I've won?
Mater calls the winner and sends registered mail to the details used to buy the ticket. The winning ticket number goes up on Mater's website on draw day and in The Australian's public notices on 21 December 2026.
