How the odds work

Your odds are the tickets you hold divided by the most tickets the draw can sell. Mater's biggest draws allow tens of millions of tickets, so the odds are long, but tickets start at just $2.

Example: Mater Prize Home 328 allows up to 30,097,275 tickets. A $100 book (100 tickets) gives you odds of

1 in 300,973

If fewer tickets sell, your odds get better.

Mater Prize Home FAQ

The questions we get asked most.

Who runs the Mater Prize Home lottery?

Mater Lotteries, for Mater in Queensland. Mater says every ticket sold helps fund medical research, world-class equipment and patient care across its hospitals. It's the original Queensland house lottery: the first Mater Prize Home, in 1954, helped build Mater Mothers' Hospital in South Brisbane, and it was the first time a house was offered as a lottery prize in Queensland.

How often is there a new Mater Prize Home?

Roughly every two months. Recent Mater draws were held in October and December 2025, then February, April, June and August 2026, with Draw 327 drawn on 23 October 2026 and Draw 328 on Christmas Eve. The draw open now is at the top of this page, and every date is on our prize home calendar.

How much are Mater Prize Home tickets?

A single ticket is $2, the cheapest of the four big prize home charities. Books go from $5 for 3 tickets up to $1,000 for 1,000, and from $100 every ticket costs $1. Spend $10 or more and you also qualify for the bonus gold if you win the home. Only spend what you'd be happy to donate.

What is the Mater book buyer prize (bonus gold)?

It's extra gold bullion for the first prize winner, based on how much they spent in that lottery: $10,000 for $10, rising to $60,000 for $100 or more. Mater adds up everything you bought in the lottery, so two $50 books count as $100. It's capped at $60,000 and only paid if one of your tickets wins first prize.

Do Mater Prize Home draws sell out?

Often, yes. Mater Prize Home 326 sold out 9 days early, 323 sold out early too, and 327 sold out on 18 October 2026 at 9:45am, days before its closing date. When a draw sells out, entries close straight away, so if you want in, don't leave it to the last night.

Where can I see Mater Prize Home results?

Mater's official winners page lists every draw with its winning ticket number and the winner's suburb, and Mater often shares winner stories later. Our winners table above links each draw to its official result. Recent Mater winners live in Everton Park, Tarragindi, Logan Village and Sugarloaf in Queensland, and Langwarrin and Mill Park in Victoria.

What are the odds of winning a Mater Prize Home?

Your odds are your tickets divided by the most tickets the draw can sell. Mater Prize Home 328 allows up to 30,097,275 tickets, so a $100 book (100 tickets) gives you odds of 1 in 300,973. If the draw sells fewer, your odds get better. Buy for the cause and the daydream, never as a plan.
